deface - Minimal Facebook chat without any distractions

deface is a Chrome add-on developed by Christopher Shelley that offers a distraction-free Facebook chat experience. If you find yourself easily distracted by the Facebook interface or concerned about privacy issues with the mobile messenger apps, deface provides a simple solution.

One of the main features of deface is the increased chat box size, allowing for a more comfortable and convenient typing experience. Additionally, deface removes everything except the chat from the Facebook interface, eliminating any unnecessary distractions. To easily toggle deface on or off, there is an icon located in the top-left corner of the screen.

It is important to note that deface requires you to log in to your Facebook account in order to use it. Also, due to Facebook's regular upgrades and modifications, deface versions may last anywhere from 5 minutes to 7 days before requiring an update to stay compatible. If you encounter any bugs, the developer recommends trying a reinstallation and providing a description of the problem.

For those interested, deface is also available as a Firefox add-on, and the complete code can be found on GitHub. You can get in touch with the developer on Twitter or support their work through Gittip.
